Mattaponi Sundowners: Saturday Match Results

Howdy,

We had a small posse at today’s match, which went quick and smooth with everybody pitching in where needed to help with the chores.

Congratulations to Ripsaw for the win, and to our three clean shooters: Ripsaw, Major B.S. Walker, and Lefty Spurmaker.

We shoot again next Sunday, Nov 19, but not on the 4th Saturday.  In December, we shoot on the 2nd Saturday Dec 9th and 3rd Sunday Dec 17 (followed by Christmas gift exchange at Nick’s).  Our normal schedule resumes in January.

Scores attached.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Match Results Part 2

Howdy Again,

Addendum to Part 1: detailed scores are attached for those who like that format.  Also, I forgot to mention how much I appreciate having your registrations in advance.  ALL shooters were pre-registered this year !

Part 2: Through your generosity, we raised $17,029 for the American Cancer Society !

That number is expected to grow before it becomes final.  We beat last year ($13,586) by more than $1.  Heart-felt thanks to all who made it happen.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Match Results Part 1

Howdy,

From my perspective, the Pat Graves Memorial Shoot For a Cure of 2023 was a complete success!  We had partly sunny weather with no rain, decent October temperatures, six fun-filled stages, and three possees of friends (some new and some for many years) who enjoy the sport of Cowboy Action shooting.

Congratulations to Cody Maverick, who was the match winner and Top Cowboy, and to J. C. Phoenix, who was Top Cowgirl.  Congratulations also to the 17 (that’s right – 17) shooters who shot “clean” although some would call it “No Misses, No P’s” that could be seen through the smoke.

The attachments list the clean shooters and scores by time and by category.

The subject line above is “Part 1”, which is what I will call the shooting part of the match and the scores.

Tomorrow, I’ll let you know about the all-important “Part 2”, which is the fund-raising part of this match.  A first-cut total was $12,500 before the match even started.  I’ll add additional raffle income, the WPGC contribution, and the auction proceeds tomorrow and send another email.  Thanks to all for your overwhelming generosity.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Shoot for a Cure update

Howdy,

Two updates for the Pat Graves Memorial Shoot For a Cure match:

1) Gates will be open around 9:30.  We will “Posse Up” at 12:00 for preliminaries.  Come early to socialize and buy lots of raffle tickets.  Shooting starts at 12:30.

2) All activity normally held downrange will be held in our “Storage Building” just in case it decides to start raining.  This includes check-in for the match and also includes the “store” with all of the numerous items donated for auction, raffle, or for sale.

p.s. The “Storage Building” is the white garage-size building East of the porta-potties.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Fwd: Pistol Silent Auction at Shoot for a Cure this Sunday

Howdy Y’all,

It is my intention to hold a silent auction for a pair of revolvers in memory of Sassy Shooting Sours at the Shoot for a Cure match this Sunday.  See attached flier.  Right now I’m not sure if I can legally transfer them at the shoot.  I’m working with Hotshod to see if we can do it.  If it turns out we cannot LEGALY do a transfer at the shoot I will cancel the auction.  If you have questions, please contact me at missourimarshal@gmail.com

Pungo Posse, Mattaponi Sundowners, Cavalier Cowboys and KC’s Corral please forward this to your email list.  Thanks

Happy Trails,
