Mattaponi Sundowners: Match Cancellation
Howdy,
Sorry to report that our Cowboy match this Sunday and our delayed Christmas gift exchange have both been cancelled due to cold weather.
Our next match is scheduled for Saturday January 27th.
We will wait until next year for the Christmas party at Nick’s.

It turned out to be a nice day and we had enthusiastic shooters. The match and stage results are attached. My thanks to Kidd for scoring and sending me the results; such a help. LET’S DO THIS AGAIN NEXT MONTH.

WPGC will have the DA match tomorrow. We have just enough that replied positively. Plan on letting the cold steel ring. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m.
You will need:
144 rounds of main frame revolver ammunition
25 rounds for the J-frame &
24-28 rounds for the 1911

WPGC Double Action Match
West Point Gun Hold will be holding our monthly double action match on Thursday, January 11. The gates will open at 8:30 and the match will begin at 10:00.
Thursday’s weather is forecast to be sunny, 34 degrees at 9:00, 47 degrees at 11:00 and 54 degrees at 1:00.
PLEASE RSVP this message and let me know if you will be there. I will send a notice between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. tomorrow, and let you know if we have enough to hold the match. I’m looking for five shooters plus myself.
The match will consist of six stages of main frame revolver with one stage having a J-frame backup. One stage will be J-frame only and one stage of 1911 only.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Happy New Year
Howdy all Cowboys and Cowgirls,
On behalf of the Mattaponi Sundowners, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope everyone is anxious as I am to get started shooting and renewing our friendships in 2024.
We have decided to try again to have our Christmas match and party at Nick’s at our January 21st match. Also the Gathering on the Mattaponi match is less than 3 months away. This year it will be held March 15, 16, and 17. The registration form is available on our website www.westpointgunclub.com.
We are looking forward to another great shooting year, not only at West Point Gun Club, but at each of our local clubs.
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Unfortunately, we don’t have enough for a match tomorrow. We only have 3 participants and I would have made four. We will try again next month. For me, I will continue with reloading and gun cleaning. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Christmas Match
Howdy,
We hope to see lots of Cowboys and Cowgirls at the range this Sunday, Dec 17, for the Mattaponi Sundowners’ annual Christmas match.
Whether shooting or not, you are invited to join us after the match at Nick’s for dinner and ‘Cowboy Christmas’ gift exchange. If you won’t be at the range by match time, but plan to join the party at Nick’s, please call or text Potter at 804-241-5418 to let him know you’re coming. He needs to give an accurate head count to Nick’s. If you’re going there directly, we’ll probably finish the match by 4:15 and be on our way to Nick’s around 4:45 or 5:00.
The gift exchange after dinner is open to Cowboys/Cowgirls and guests. If you bring a gift, you get a gift. If a Grinch ‘steals’ the one you pick, you can choose another one from the table or ‘steal’ from somebody else. The limit is 3 steals – the 4th ‘owner’ takes it home.
For the match, gates open at 10, the safety briefing is at 12:15, and shooting starts at 12:30. Stages by Cody Maverick are attached.
