Range Rules & Regulations
Version 1.7 (4/21/2016)

 

Fundamental Safety Regulations:
  • ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  • ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  • ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
  • ABSOLUTELY no gun handling during a Cold Range.
  • ABSOLUTELY no one downrange unless under an acknowledge Cold Range.
General Rules and Regulations:
  • Ear and Eye protection is mandatory for all persons during range operations.
  • All projectiles must impact the berm between the red/white out of bounds posts.
  • The first member present at the range becomes the range officer, responsible for range operations, unless superseded by a Club Officer or Match Director.
  • Absolutely no consumption of alcohol or other controlled substances on WPGC property.
  • Shooting is prohibited while under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substances.
  • The Monday thru Saturday start time for all shooting shall be after sunrise and no earlier than 8:30 am. The Sunday start time for all shooting shall be 12:30 p.m. (after church services).
  • The Monday thru Sunday (7 days) end time for all shooting shall be dusk.
  • If the “Forestry Work” signs are displayed, All ranges and bays are Closed.
  • Young adults 17 and under must be supervised and accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • All guests must be accompanied by a WPGC member at all times.
  • All WPGC members must display their current membership card when requested by a range officer.
  • Every shooter is responsible for cleaning up after themselves (brass, targets, etc.).
  • The red range flags (front gate, range #1) will be raised during all shooting activities.
  • All WPGC members are responsible for updating the range sign-in/out book (located in target shed).
  • There shall be no firing of BMG 50 caliber or comparable firearms.
  • Range #1 takes priority over all shooting bays for usage (exceptions scheduled by the Executive Committee).
  • Flammable and/or explosive substances (i.e. tannerite) may never be used as targets.
  • Match Directors are responsible for the range operations of the entire range during matches.
  • The use and/or presence of tracer, incendiary or comparable ammunition is prohibited.
Range #1 Rules and Regulations:
  • All Fundamental Safety and General Rules and Regulations apply.
  • Absolutely no shooting from Range #1 when any of the firing bays are occupied.
  • All shooters must be positioned on a common firing line, absolutely no staggered firing positions.
  • No shooting at metal or steel targets, paper and plastic targets only.
  • Shoot at targets directly in front of shooting position, No cross range shooting.
  • All ground targets must be located within 15 yards of the back berm.
  • There shall be no firing of full automatic firearms.
Bays #1, #2, #3 Rules and Regulations:
  • All Fundamental Safety and General Rules and Regulations apply.
  • Absolutely no shooting from Bays #1,#2,#3 when Range #1 is in use.
  • Full automatic firearms are allowed within 50 feet of the back berm.
  • Shoot at steel, paper and plastic targets only.
  • WPGC owned steel targets may only be engaged with solid lead bullets, No jacketed, plated, etc.
Definitions:
  • Range #1 = Common firing line under the shelter and the open area beside it on the 100 yard range.
  • Bays #1, #2, #3 = The 3 areas separated by NRA walls within 75 feet of the 100 yard back berm.
