Range Rules & Regulations

Fundamental Safety Regulations:
- ALWAYS treat the gun as if it is loaded and keep it pointed in a safe
- ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until ready to
- ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to
- ALWAYS be sure of your target and what is in front and beyond.
- ABSOLUTELY no gun handling during a Cold
- ABSOLUTELY no one downrange unless under an acknowledged Cold
General Rules and Regulations:
- Safety
- Ear and Eye protection is mandatory for all persons during range
- Absolutely no consumption of alcohol or other controlled substances on WPGC
- Shooting is prohibited while under the influence of alcohol or other controlled
- Administration
- All members must sign in and out on the log sheet in the Target Shed. All guests must also be listed.
- Young adults 17 and under must be supervised and accompanied by a responsible
- All guests must always be accompanied by a WPGC member.
- The first member present at the range becomes the range officer, responsible for range operations, unless superseded by a Club Officer or Match
- All WPGC members must display their current membership card when requested by a range officer.
- Every shooter is responsible for cleaning up after themselves (brass, targets, etc.).
- Range Operations
- Match Directors are responsible for the range operations of the entire range during
- All projectiles must impact the berm between the red/white out of bounds
- The red range flags (Front Gate, Range #1 or Bay # 2, as appropriate) will be raised during all shooting
- Range #1 takes priority over all shooting bays for usage (except as scheduled by the Executive Committee).
- Bays #1, #2, and #3 shall have priority every Tuesday afternoon, from noon until dusk and Thursday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until noon for short range practice.
- Monday thru Saturday start time for all shooting shall be after sunrise and no earlier than 8:30
- Sunday start time for all shooting shall be after 12:30 p.m. (after church services).
- Monday thru Sunday (7 days) end time for all shooting shall be dusk.
- There shall be no firing of BMG 50 caliber or comparable firearms.
- Flammable and/or explosive substances (i.e. Tannerite) may never be used as targets.
- The use and/or presence of tracer, incendiary or comparable ammunition is prohibited.
- If the “Forestry Work” signs are displayed, all ranges and bays are Closed.
Specific Range and Bays Regulations:
1) Definitions:
Range #1 is the Common firing line under the shelter at the 100-yard range.
Bays #1, #2, #3 are the 3 areas separated by NRA walls within 75 feet of the berm.
2) All Fundamental Safety and General Rules and Regulations
3) Range #1 Rules and Regulations:
- Absolutely no shooting from Range #1 when any of the firing bays are occupied.
- All shooters must be positioned on a common firing line, absolutely no staggered firing positions.
- No shooting at metal or steel targets; paper and plastic targets only.
- Shoot at targets directly in front of shooting position, No cross-range shooting.
- Ground targets may only be used in Bays #1, #2, or #3.
- Fully automatic fire is prohibited.
4) Bays #1, #2, #3 Rules and Regulations:
- Absolutely no shooting in Bays #1, #2, or #3 when Range #1 is in use.
- Fully automatic fire is permitted within 50 feet of the berm.
- Ground targets may only be used within 15 yards of the berm.
- Shoot at steel, paper and plastic targets only.
- WPGC owned steel targets may only be engaged with solid lead bullets, no jacketed, plated, etc.
