Mattaponi Sundowners: Match Cancellation

Howdy,

With regrets, our Sunday match at WPGC, the dinner afterward, and the Christmas gift exchange, have all been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

WPGC Double Action: Tomorrow’s Match is Cancelled

Unfortunately, we don’t have enough for a match tomorrow. We only have 3 participants and I would have made four. We will try again next month. For me, I will continue with reloading and gun cleaning. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Christmas Match

Howdy,

We hope to see lots of Cowboys and Cowgirls at the range this Sunday, Dec 17, for the Mattaponi Sundowners’ annual Christmas match.

Whether shooting or not, you are invited to join us after the match at Nick’s for dinner and ‘Cowboy Christmas’ gift exchange.  If you won’t be at the range by match time, but plan to join the party at Nick’s, please call or text Potter at 804-241-5418 to let him know you’re coming.  He needs to give an accurate head count to Nick’s.  If you’re going there directly, we’ll probably finish the match by 4:15 and be on our way to Nick’s around 4:45 or 5:00.

The gift exchange after dinner is open to Cowboys/Cowgirls and guests.  If you bring a gift, you get a gift.  If a Grinch ‘steals’ the one you pick, you can choose another one from the table or ‘steal’ from somebody else.  The limit is 3 steals – the 4th ‘owner’ takes it home.

For the match, gates open at 10, the safety briefing is at 12:15, and shooting starts at 12:30.  Stages by Cody Maverick are attached.

WPGC Double Action Match Thursday

Hmmm…
We will be holding the monthly DA match if we have enough participants. The forecast is 38 at 10 am and 42 at 2 pm. I couldn’t get a reliable wind forecast but it seems 6 mph is likely.
We will have six stages of main frame revolver, 3 reloads totaling 24 rounds. One of these stages will have a J-frame back up.
One stage of J-frame only 20 rounds 3 reloads and
One stage of 1911 only 24 rounds. 3 reloads

Please reply if you plan to attend to:

I will send a confirmation of cancellation on Wednesday between 5 and 7 pm.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Saturday Match Results

Howdy Cowboys & Cowgirls,

We had great weather today at the range, a little cool but sunny.  Inita Shoot (Mrs Wistful) joined us for the first time in several years and Walker Colt made the trip with Arizona Anzie to shoot with us.

Congratulations to Walker Colt for the win and the clean match.  Others shooting clean were: Ripsaw, Potter County Kid, Swifty McDraw, and Kidd At Heart.  If we had a dagnabbit award, it would go to Dakota Rambler, closely followed by Inita Shoot who only missed 2 all day.

Scores attached.

Don’t forget that next Sunday is our Christmas match followed by a gift exchange at Nicks.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Sunday Match Results

Howdy,

It would have been a bit cool for our Saturday hours, but the weather was real nice for our Sunday schedule.  With plenty of sun, we didn’t even turn on the space heaters.

Welcome back to Buzzard Bayne, Matchstick Mitchell, and Mac Moshannon. Haven’t seen them for a while.  We also welcomed a new shooter – Major Gunz.  He’s new with our crowd but he has shot a couple of matches with our friends at Black Creek.

Congratulations to our two clean shooters: Mac Moshannon and … wait for it … Dakota Rambler.  Dakota was the match winner with no penalties and a bonus for hitting the flyer (a clay bird with turkey feathers).

Don’t forget: we shoot on the 9th and 17th in December and close the year with dinner and a gift exchange at Nick’s.

Scores attached.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Saturday Match Results

Howdy,

We had a small posse at today’s match, which went quick and smooth with everybody pitching in where needed to help with the chores.

Congratulations to Ripsaw for the win, and to our three clean shooters: Ripsaw, Major B.S. Walker, and Lefty Spurmaker.

We shoot again next Sunday, Nov 19, but not on the 4th Saturday.  In December, we shoot on the 2nd Saturday Dec 9th and 3rd Sunday Dec 17 (followed by Christmas gift exchange at Nick’s).  Our normal schedule resumes in January.

Scores attached.
