Just wanted to let you know that there have been a lot of updates to the PP webpage.  Updates include the latest attendance list for Range War 2023 and an updated shooting calendar for 2024 (Accurate, but still awaiting final approval).  The list for Range War was updated today.  The website is located at:  www.pungoposse.com

Please note that just because we dragged our feet getting the SCRW 2023 info out, does not mean you should drag your feet getting your application in.  The form is attached.  Looking forward to seeing everyone!

WPGC Double Action: Tomorrow’s Match A Go

We have six shooters including myself. Gates will open at 8:30
 
Please use caution entering and exiting the range. A logging crew is clearing the pine trees along the entrance road. They have heavy equipment. Make sure they see you as you pass.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Monthly Sunday Match (Josey Wales)

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be hosting a Cowboy Action match this coming Sunday September 17 at the West Point Gun Club.
 
Gates will open at 10:00, the safety meeting will be at 12:15, and we start shooting at 12:30
 
Stages by Prairie City Slim attached.  This is our annual Josey Wales match, which allows the option of using two extra revolvers staged and fired in place of the rifle.  If shooting in this category, all four revolvers are fired with one hand, either Duelist style or Gunfighter style.  A flyer is attached with a summary of the rules.

WPGC Double Action Match, Thursday Sep 14, 2023

West Point Gun Club will hold the monthly DA match this Thursday. Gates will open at 8:30 and the match will begin at 10:00.
 
There will be: 
6 stages of Main frame revolver with a J-frame included in one stage.
1 stage of J-frame only
1 stage of 1911
 
Please RSVP if you PLAN TO ATTEND. We will need at least 5 people to attend to hold the match. 
 
I will send a follow up email on Wednesday evening between 5 and 7 and let everyone know the results. 
 
Weather forecast is sunny and 70’s.

WPGC Range Logging Operations

The logging operation at the range is supposed to start tomorrow (Friday September 08). This should not impact range use and will probably take about two weeks depending on weather conditions and equipment breakdowns. Please be mindful of trucks and logging equipment and be careful entering and existing the property. I would rather not close the range for this, but if we have to we will.

West Point Gun Club Rimfire Match will be held on Wed, Sept 6

The West Point Gun Club will be having its Rimfire Steel Match on Sept 6. the gates will open at 8:00 AM. with signup and setup starting at 9:00AM. We will be having a meeting at 9:45 Am and shooting will start at 10:00 AM. 
 
It is forcast to be in the mid 90’s before we finish shooting. We will put up tents, not sure about fans, Bring Cold water or sports dpinks

Mattaponi Sundowners: Saturday Results

Howdy,

It was a dry sunny day at the range today.  Ten of us shot a match designed for simplicity, and we were finished in near-record time.
 
Congratulations to Dakota Rambler for the win and for shooting the match clean.  Congrats also to Buzzard Bayne and Prairie City Slim for shooting clean all day.

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be hosting a Cowboy Action match this coming Saturday August 26 at the West Point Gun Club.
 
Gates will open at 8:00, the safety meeting will be at 9:45, and we start shooting at 10:00
 
“Cowboy Cool” is optional.  Shorts, T-shirts, & Tennis Shoes are allowed but baseball caps or open-toe shoes are not.
 
Stages by Ripsaw attached.  Hope you can join us at the last East-Central Virginia match before the state championship.
