WPGC Rimfire Steel Match Scores for 04 JAN 2017

Greetings Shooters!

Finally, here are the scores from our match on WED, 04 JAN 2017! It was a great day for shooting the first match of the year. Weather was cool, but the sun did come out for a few minutes.

Congrats to Kidd at Heart and NNG for their win of the Limited and Open classes, respectively. And congrats to Beartooth, Nuttmegger, Kidd, NNG, Vaquero, Bryan, Swifty and Tripp for shooting clean. Want to welcome Swifty McDraw back after a long absence.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the shooters who have participated in these matches last year and look forward to having more fun this year. I also want to express my appreciation for everyone pitching in to help set up and take down the targets and tables; it really helps.

Our next match will be WED, 01 FEB, hope to see you all then.

WPGC – Cowboy Scores – December 18th, 2016

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

The Mattaponi Sundowners held their Christmas Celebration Match today at the West Point Gun Club. The temperatures were in the 70’s, about 10 rain drops fell the entire day not enough to wash the dust off of my truck and the only down side to the weather was some gusty winds, not a bad day for cowboy action shooting in December.

Congratulations to Cody Maverick our Top Overall Shoot!! Congratulations to Chantilly Shooter, Flatboat Bob, Leadford Leroy, One Eyed Jane, Sassy Shooting Sours and Will Sonnet as our Clean All Day Shooters!! The scores are attached in PDF format from ACES.

WPGC – Cowboy Match & Stages – Sunday Dec. 18th, 2016

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

The Mattaponi Sundowners cowboy match of Sunday, December 18th, 2016 is a GO!!!!!

But there are a few changes for the match….

The weather forecast for Sunday calls for a good chance of rain with temperatures in the 60’s, not a combination that I was expecting for a December match, but we will take advantage of the good temperatures.

We are going to have tents setup over the entire shooting line, the loading/unloading tables and will have plenty of covered space for us cowboys and our gear. You will be able to stand, load, unload, and shoot all from under the cover of tents.

We will be shooting all of the stages in Bay #3, we will shoot 3 stages and then rearrange targets and shoot 3 more stages. In order to better support shooting from under the cover of tents, we are going to use a different set of stages than was originally sent out. The new stages are attached in PDF format.

I are relaxing the boot/shoe requirements for the match, any type of boot/shoe is acceptable as long as they are safe to shoot in. The ground is likely to be wet and maybe even have standing water depending on how frozen the ground is underneath. My suggestion is that you wear boots that are going to keep your feet dry, warm and provide good traction.

The Christmas Celebration at Nick’s after the match is also a GO.

If you are coming to Nick’s but not shooting the match, please call/email Sassy Shooting Sours before Noon on Sunday and let her know. Her email address is graves22@verizon.net and her cell phone is 804-370-4521.

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be holding their annual Christmas Cowboy Match, this Sunday, December 18th, at the West Point Gun Club. After the match we will be going over to Nick’s Restaurant for “Chinese Gift Exchange” and we will be enjoying dinner, drinks and fellowship with all our cowboys friends and family. Everyone is invited to join us at Nick’s after the match, regardless of if you are shooting the match or not. The dinner and drinks are on your own tab but we will provide all the fellowship and fun.

The Christmas themed stages have been written by Flatboat Bob. The stages and stage drawings are attached in PDF format, I did not include the MS Word format to reduce the size of the email.

The weather forecast for Sunday is somewhat questionable but it has been improving as we get closer to the day. We will send out an match update on Friday by end of day with our final GO or NO GO call. The email on Friday will be sent either way. If we have to cancel this match, we will reschedule the stages and Christmas party at Nick’s for our Sunday match in January, or the first match we shoot in 2017.

On the “Chinese Gift Exchange” this is optional, you do not have to participate in the gift exchange and are welcome to join us for dinner and drinks regardless. If you would like to participate, all you have to do is bring a gift. Everyone that brings a gift, will get a gift. The price range for gifts is under $25.00. The gifts should be wrapped such that nobody can tell what is inside. Generally the gifts are cowboy or shooting themed but they do not have to be. Gag gifts are also acceptable but please keep them family friendly, there are often young buckaroos and buckaretts present. We will exchange gifts based on the “Chinese Gift Exchange” rules. I have attached a PDF file with the rules that we have used in the past.

If you are planning on attending the dinner at Nick’s but are not shooting the match, please call or email Sassy Shooting Sours before Noon on Sunday, so that we can have a correct number of people when we call Nick’s. Her email address is graves22@verizon.net and her cell phone is 804-370-4521.

The match will run as a regular Sunday match, gates will be open by 10:00, registration will run from 10:30 till 12:00, mandatory safety meeting at 12:00 and the match itself will start at 12:30. The cost of the match is $15.00 for guests and $0.00 (free) for members of WPGC. Additional information is available on our web site at: www.westpointgunclub.com.
