WPGC Members,

On Saturday October 29, 2022 we will be having our annual Fall cleanup day. We will be rebuilding and repairing target frames and replacing the cardboard on them. Cleaning out the target stand holes, raking up shotgun wads and debris in the downrange bays, clearing brush from the NRA wall and on the road leading downrange. Clearing the gutter on the shooting shelter and other various jobs.

We will be getting started around 8:00 and usually work until 12:00/1:00. Any help will be much appreciated. Come when you can, leave when you have to.

Some items that may be helpful are:

Rakes

Shovels

Battery operated drill/driver

Leaf blower

Chainsaw

Pruning saw/pruning sheers

Well, 2 weeks from today and we will be ending Shoot For A Cure for this year. If you plan on attending, please send me your name and category. For every one that will pre register and shoot, West Point Gun Club will donate $5. Just take a second to drop me that info, 97graves@gmail.com.

If you would like to donate and not able to be there please mail your donation to me. CHECKS MUST BE MADE OUT TO AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY and mail them to me at Pat Graves 3030 King William Ave  West Point, VA 23181. If you would please email me that the check is on the way.

If you have anything to donate for sale or raffle, please let me know. Please don’t bring something that is worn out or not in good shape.

We are trying hard to make this a successful match. More match details to come.

Howdy All,

Numbers might have been few but spirit wasn’t!!  It was a nice day for shooting and even for watching.

Congrats to Dakota Rambler as Overall Match winner. Congrats to Bingo Montana and Buzzard Bayne for shooting CAD.  Congrats to Matchstick for completing his first Cowboy match. We hope that he comes back to join us again. Congrats to Lefty Spurmaker for the honor being bestowed on him tonight, having a Sports Center named after him.

We hope everyone at WVa State did well and travel safety back home. Thanks to all that helped with set up and tear down. It was greatly appreciated.

We will be at the Green Top Outdoor Expo next weekend selling raffle tickets for Shoot For A Cure. Please don’t forget to pre register for Shoot For A Cure on October 16. $1 MORE!!!

Howdy All,

Well, it’s that time of year again for our annual Shoot For A Cure match.  Mark your calendar for October 16, 2022.  All proceeds will be going to the area “Relay For Life” team.  With the help of many people, we are trying hard to make this the best ever match with many items for sale, raffle, and silent auction. 

 This is the only routine match that members are asked to pay a match fee.  Match fee is the usual $15 per shooter and of course we will take more.  The West Point Gun Club has made a special offer, they will donate $5 per shooter for each shooter that will pre-register before the match.  I’m happy to say that with the number of shooters we are getting, it makes it more difficult to get everything set up and ready to go by the time the match is to start.  If we can get most shooters to pre-register we can set things up in advance to help make things run more smoothly, on time and most of all make more money.

Last year we raised about $19,500.  That amount was amazing!!!  My moto for the next year has always been $1 more.  I know that we can do it.  The cowboys and cowgirls have always been a special group of people and this match is proof.  I know this amount seems out of reach but I know that this is something that we can achieve.  This match isn’t for me but for everyone that has been touched by cancer in some way or another.  Let’s do our part in trying to stop this dreaded disease.

If you plan on being with us on October 16, please register in advance so we can raise even more money for them.  If you would like to donate but can’t make the match, you can send a check to Sassy Shooting Sours and mail to the address below. 

Hope to see all of you at the match.  This will be a big day so don’t be late.  Gates will open at 1000.  You will want to come with enough time to get your guns or gun carts ready, look at and buy some of our sale items and check out other items for bidding.

Good luck to everyone going to the WVa State Championship.
