Mattaponi Sundowners: Dec 18th Scores

The Mattaponi Sundowners closed out the 2022 season with our annual Christmas match today.  Potter County Kid wrote the match and had the targets painted and decorated nicely for Christmas.  Congratulations to Dakota Rambler for the win and to Lefty Spurmaker, Marshal P. C. Wabash, and Poney Racer for shooting clean.  I hope everyone scored high on the “fun meter” scale; thanks for coming.  As always, thanks to those who helped during the match and to those who helped set it up and tear it down.  Very special thanks for the LP gas space heaters.
 
After the match, we filled up a room at Nick’s to have dinner, followed by an interesting exchange of gifts.  You bring a gift, pick one when it’s your turn, and wait until somebody takes it away from you.  Around and around it goes until nothing is left under the Christmas tree.
 
Next month, we resume our normal schedule with matches on the 3rd Sunday and 4th Saturday in January and February.  We’re already making plans for our 16th Anniversary “Gathering on the Mattaponi” match on the weekend of March 18-19.  Hope to see you there.

Mattaponi Sundowners: Christmas Match

Howdy all,

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be hosting the annual Christmas match this coming Sunday followed by a Chinese gift exchange at Nick’s.

The gates will open at 10:00, safety meeting at 12:00 and first round downrange at 12:30. The stages are attached and I hope you all can attend. The weather is predicted to be a little on the cool side, but it is supposed to be sunny.

If you want to participate in the gift exchange bring a gift. You are welcome to join us for dinner whether you bring a gift or not.

Anyone who plans to come for dinner, but is not shooting please let me know by calling or texting (804) 241-5418 or by email 97graves@gmail.com. Please let me know by 1:00 Sunday so I can give Nick’s an accurate head count.

It seems the weather forecast is against us. It appears that we are in for an all-day soaker on Thursday. I don’t like to cancel a match but with temperatures not getting out of the thirties until noon or later, I’m leaning that way. I’m going to wait until Wednesday and will let everyone know between noon and 6 p.m.

Mattaponi Sundowners: 12/10 Scores

Fifteen cowboys and cowgirls came out for the match today.  Worthy of note, some came because there was a Texas Star on stage 3 and a Popper (with leftover turkeys) on stage 5.  Otherwise, they may have stayed home where it was warmer.
 
Congratulations to Cody Maverick, who won the match that he wrote (doesn’t always happen).  Consolation prizes go to the three shooters who had only one miss (nobody shot clean): Bingo Montana, Beartooth, and One-Eyed Jane.

WPGC Rimfire Steel Match scores for Dec 7 2022

Had a Christmas party to attend last night so the scores just now getting out. 
 
Eight folks braved the chilly rainy day that the weather guessers got a little wrong. We still had a good time.
 
Vaquero Gambler was overall winner and the limited winner.
Kid at Heart was our winner in the Cowboy group. Bob Blevins took the honors in the open category. I must not leave myself out as the only one and winner in the mechanical category and also last overall.
 
Thanks to all with setup, teardown and being the timer operator. I sure do appreciate it.
 
There will be NO rimfire steel match on January 4, 2023.

WPGC Membership: Cowboy match

This is a reminder that there will be a SASS Cowboy match on Saturday December 10. This is to make up for not having a match on the 4th Saturday which is Christmas Eve. The match will be using Bay 2 and Bay 3. Bay 1 will be open for membership use.

Mattaponi Sundowners: December 10 match

Howdy all,

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be hosting a match on Saturday December 10, 2022. This is a match to make up for not having a match on Christmas weekend. The match has been written by Cody Maverick and looks to be a good fun match. Gates will open at 8:00 with the safety meeting at 9:30 and first round downrange at 10:00. Hope to see everyone here.

We will also be having our annual Christmas match and Chinese gift exchange on Sunday December 18. Anyone who wishes to participate is asked to bring a wrapped gift of a value of around $20.00 or so. More details will be coming soon.
