Howdy All,

What a wonderful day to shoot!!  The tents made the rain hold off until all was done.

Congrats to Cody Maverick as Top Cowboy shooter.  Congrats to Flatboat Bob and Will Sonnet for shooting CAD.  These 2 deserve more than a piece of paper for shooting this match clean. There were 8 P’s on 1 stage, out off 24 shooters.

It was good seeing everyone today and we hope that y’all had fun. Welcome to Doc Morton to West Point and hope to see you again.

Hope to see y’all next week with Pungo shooting on Saturday and Cavalier on Sunday.

Don’t forget that the “Gathering” is fast approaching.  If you haven’t, it’s time to get your money and application in to Whiskey Mae.

Attached are the stages written by Major B. S. Walker for Saturday’s match for the Mattaponi Sundowners.

The gates will open at 0830, safety meeting at 0930 and shooting starts at 1000.

We hope to see y’all there.  It looks like the weather will be nice and warm; 73 degrees for a high and only a 20% chance of rain.

Howdy All,

What a nice day for shooting!  It was a bit long with set up today also but that beat being in the cold and rain to do it yesterday.  How did we do this years ago when everything was stored up range and no tractor for bringing it down either.  We were younger, that’s all I can say!!

It was good to see everyone.  It was nice that Remo and Clementine stopped by during the shoot and had dinner with us.  We wish him well with his upcoming surgery and hope that he is back shooting soon.

Congrats to Cody Maverick for being the TopOverall Shooter.  Congrats to Flatboat, Kuba Kid, Kid At Heart, Will Sonnet, and Missouri Marshal for shooting CAD. We hope everyone enjoyed the match and had fun.

Mattaponi Sundowners will be shooting next Saturday, Feb. 24. The match will start at 1000.  We hope that y’all can join us.  More details and stages to come out later.

Attached are the scores for January 27, 2018.

Congrats to Cody Maverick as Overall match winner.  Congrats to Lefty Spurmaker and Longhorn Louie for shooting CAD.  I hear that it was a pretty day for a match.  Sorry we weren’t there to enjoy it with you.  It’s windy and raining here but not as cold as it could be, at least rain not snow.  We missed all of y’all.

A very deep ‘THANK YOU’  for everyone’s help in setting up and running the match for us.  We knew we had a good group of people to count on to handle everything for us.

Next Saturday should be a match at Pungo and on Sunday at Cavalier.  We hope to be attending and to see everyone there.  We miss everyone.

Howdy All,

What a GREAT day, weather wise, for a shoot.  We were glad to see each and everyone of you today.

Congrats to Cody Maverick as Overall match winner. Congrats to One Eyed Jane, Prairie City Slim and Wistful McClintock for shooting CAD.  There’s something fishy in Mattaponi when the husband and wife team plus being the match writer, both shoot CAD.

Mattaponi Sundowners will have a match next Saturday, January 27, 2018.  The gates will open at 8:00, safety meeting at 9:30 and shooting at 10:00. 

As those that were at the match know and for those who couldn’t make; Potter’s Mom passed away last night and her funeral will be Wednesday in PA.  We will be leaving early in the morning for PA.  Also Cody Maverick’s brother is on ventilator support with COPD and pneumonia in NC.  Please keep these families in your prayers.  Potter and Sassy will miss Saturday’s match but there will be plenty of good people there to run it and make it fun.

Howdy All,

Well today started out nice with sunshine and warm but things quickly turned when the clouds rolled in.  We finished late in the day but it was nice to be with everyone and to shoot a match together.

Congrats to Cody Maverick as overall winner and to Flatboat Bob, Prairie City Slim, One Eyed Jane and Swifty McDraw for shooting CAD.

We had a GREAT time at Nick’s and the gift exchange.

We missed several of our friends and fellow cowboys and cowgirls.  We hope all is well with everyone.

We want to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! Stay safe as you travel and celebrate with family and friends.

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be holding their annual Christmas Cowboy Match on Sunday, December 17th, 2017, at the West Point Gun Club.

The stages written by Flatboat Bob are attached in MS Word and PDF formats.

The match starts shooting at 12:30 pm with the gates opening at 10:00, registration running from 10:30 till 11:45, and the mandatory safety meeting at 12:00 Noon. The cost of the match is $15.00 for non members and $0.00 (free) for WPGC members. Additional information is available on our web site at www.WestPointGunClub.com.

After the match we will be going over to Nicks Restaurant for our Annual Chinese Gift Exchange. The rules for the gift exchange are attached. Participation is easy, if you want to participate then bring a gift (cowboy or shooting related), wrapped, around $20.00 in value, everyone that brings a gift will be a part of the gift exchange. You do not have to shoot the match to take part in the exchange. If you are not shooting the match, but are coming for the gift exchange, please call Sassy at 804-370-4521 and let her know, so that we can get the reservations correct.
