PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES POSTED ON YOUR EMAILS FRIDAY FOR MATCH UPDATES!!
Attached are the stages for Saturday’s match. As of now, the weather is looking very hot with a high of 98 degrees and a heat advisory. We are hoping something will happen to change this forecast but if it doesn’t we will be looking out for the safety of our Cowboys and Cowgirls too. We will send out any announcement of cancellation as early as possible on Friday. If we get to have the match; gates will open at 0800, safety meeting at 0930 and shooting will start at 1000.
Please take breaks to keep from overheating, drink plenty of water for hydration and limit your exposure.

Howdy All,
What a hot day!! The tents and fans helped but it was all of y’all that made it work with all of the pitching in and working. I even saw Beartooth and Potter on the iPads with scoring.
Congrats to Cody Maverick as the Overall Match Winner. Congrats to Cotton Connie, Flatboat Bob, Kid At Heart, Lefty Sourmaker, One Eyed Jane, Potter County Kid, Prairie City Slim, Quilla Star, Sassy, Wistful MdClintock for shooting CAD.
We will be having a match next Saturday with more details coming out on Tuesday..

WPGC Double Action: Match Results
We had a successful day yesterday. In total there were five shooters, and we began just before 10:00. We used the following categories: revolver 3″ barrel or less, revolver greater than 3″ barrel, pistol 3″ barrel or less, pistol greater than 3″ barrel and we had two .22 pistols with barrel greater than 3″. The results are:
Revolver 3″ or less: Southpaw Yankee 186
Revolver greater than 3″ Jackass Flats 196
Pistol 3″ or less Jackass Flats 166
Pistol greater than 3″ Rooster & Jackass Flats 160
.22 Pistol greater than 3″ Jackass Flats 200
Maximum possible score is 200, 20 rounds per stage with 10 pts. maximum per shot.
For me, I realized I need to work on my 1911 shooting. I think everyone had an enlightening experience The same target at 5 or 10 yards is much more difficult to hit at 20 or 25 yards. We will plan on doing this match next month. I will not be able to be there, but I think I have secured a replacement. Come on out and give it a try. Until then….
Mattaponi Sundowners match July 17
Howdy All,
Attached are the stages for Sunday’s match with the Mattaponi Sundowners. Temps are to be in the upper 80’s but no rain. We will have tents and fans as needed.
Gates will open at 1000, safety meeting at 1200 and shooting starts at 1230.

WPGC Double Action: July 14, 2022, DA Match
WPGC will be holding a paper silhouette match in lieu of the DA match this Thursday. Attached is set of guidelines and information that you will find helpful. This match is a “get acquainted” match that will eventually be used as a backup to the DA match when participation is too light to justify a steel set up. Gates will be open at 8:30 and the match will begin at 10:00. Come give it a try, it’ll be fun.

Hi All,
Appreciate everyone helping out with targets, tents, tables etc. Both setup and take down on this hot humid July day.
Started early with 10 folks present because of heat and chance of thunderstorms. Two more folks made an appearance before we finished the first stage.

We will be having the RimFire Steel Match at the West :Point Gun Club on 7/6/2022.
The gates will open at 8:30 AM
Setup starts at 9:00 AM
We will setup tents and have water on ice

This is a reminder that the range will be closed on Friday (set up) and Saturday (match) for general membership use. WPGC Cowboy group will be holding the Virginia State Black Powder Championship.
You are welcome to come watch the match, if you like but you must have hearing and eye protection. The match starts at 1000 on Saturday.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE RANGE ON SATURDAY, PLEASE COME TO THE REGISTRATION TABLE AND CHECK IN FIRST. I DON’T WANT TO BE AT THE LAST MINUTE TRYING TO TIE THINGS UP.
Attached is a schedule of the day, we will try to stick to this as much as possible but we will not be rushing anyone to stay on a schedule.
We will have tents and fans as needed during the match.
