WPGC – Cowboy Match & Stages – Sunday, November 20th, 2016

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be holding their monthly 3rd Sunday match, this Sunday, November 20th, at the West Point Gun Club.

This month we are offering an optional Josey Wales Category, I have attached a detailed category rule but the idea is the cowboy shoots 4 pistols and a shotgun instead of the usual (pistols, rifle & shotgun). The pistols have to be shot one handed (duelist or gunfighter) and 1 pair of pistols are holstered the other pair is staged per the rifle directions.

The stages have been written by Prairie City Slim and are attached in MS Word and PDF formats.

The match itself will start shooting at 12:30 with the gates opening at 10:00, registration running from 10:30 till 12:00 and the mandatory safety meeting at 12:00 Noon. The costs of the match is $15.00 for non members and $0.00 (free) for members of the West Point Gun Club. Additional details are available on our web site at:

Match Reminders:

The Mattaponi Sundowners are NOT shooting on the 4th Saturday in November, Nov. 26th.

Our 3rd Sunday match in December, December 18th, will be our annual Christmas Match, we shoot a Christmas themed regular monthly match and then invite everyone to join us at Nicks Restaurant for our Chinese Gift Exchange, more details coming soon.

Safe Travels,

West Point Rimfire match scores Nov 2 2016

Hi All,

Another beautiful day for shooting at West Point.

We want to welcome Bryan Hood to our 22 Rimfire Steel shoot.

Congrats to Don as the overall winner and winner of the open class!
Congrats to Nutmegger as winner of the limited class!
Congrats to Beartooth as the winner of the cowboy class!

We tried something new to add some spice to our game. Pistol busting clays and rifle busting clays, for the lack of a better class name, was enjoyed! Don took the pistol category and Red took the rifle category. Congrats to our inaugural

Hope to see you all then!

Before I get to the grand total donated for our match.  I want to let all of you know how much I love each of you, you are family!!  I get a lot of the praise for this match but it’s you who deserves the praise.  I THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE TO MAKE THIS MATCH A SUCCESS!~!!

Adding one more thing:  I’m putting out a BIG challenge— can we make it to the top tear of the donation board next year?  The challenge is for $5000 next year.

WPGC – Cowboy Match Scores – Sunday, Oct. 16th, 2016

Cowboys & Cowgirls,

Our annual “Shoot for a Cure” match to raise money for the American Cancer Society and raise awareness, was another huge success.

We will be sending out another email a little later in the week with the details on what was raised today, but we exceeded our goals.

I should probably write more, but I am way too tired to make any sense.

We gave out awards to all the winners at the match, so I am not going to repeat them here.

The scores from ACES are attached in PDF format.

REMINDER – We will NOT be shooting next Saturday, as we support Pungo Posse’s Range War Match.

Thanks to Everyone who helped make this match another Huge Success!!!!

Safe Travels,
