WPGC – Cowboy Scores – Saturday Sept. 24th, 2016

The Mattaponi Sundowners held their monthly 4th Saturday match today at the West Point Gun Club. A big cowboy welcome goes out to Buckshot Bandy who shot her first cowboy match today and to Chantilly Shooter who shot with us at West Point for the first time, we hope to see both of you back shooting with us again soon!!!!!

Congratulations to Cold Blue Mike as the Top Overall Shooter and Congratulations to Chantilly Shooter, Cold Blue Mike, Prairie City Slim and Sassy Shooting Sours as our Clean All Day Shooters!!!!!

Important Reminders…..

The Sunday match in October, the 16th, will be our annual “Shoot for a Cure” match, which raises funds for the American Cancer Society and promotes Breast Cancer Awareness. We will have a special 3 bay match to shoot with all of match fees going to the cause, in addition we are going to have awards, items for sale, raffles, silent actions and a whole lot more. Sassy Shooting Sours who heads up this great event, will have more information available real soon.

We will not be shooting our 4th Saturday match in October. That weekend is Pungo’s annual two day match, Sussex County Range Wars and we are not holding our match in order to fully support Pungo’s match.

The Mattaponi Sundowners will be holding their monthly 4th Saturday match this weekend at the West Point Gun Club.

The dress code for the match will be Standard Cowboy Dress.

The stages have been written by Sassy Shooting Sours and are attached in MS Word and PDF formats.

The match will start shooting at 10:00 am with the gates opening at 8:00, registration running from 8:30 till 9:30 and the mandatory safety meeting at 9:45. The costs of the match is $15.00 for non members and $0.00 (free) for members of WPGC. Additional information is available on our web site at, www.WestPointGunClub.com.

WPGC Rimfire Steel Match Scores for 14 SEP 16

Shooters!!

Here are the scores for our match yesterday. It was a very nice day for shooting. Sunny and not too warm. We shot a couple of stages at longer ranges with both pistol and rifle. Times reflected the change, but all in all it appeared everyone enjoyed the challenge.

Congrats to Kidd at Heart for outshooting the other two Cowboy shooters. Bob Blevins takes the Limited by 0.44 seconds and Don Fenton took top honors for the Open class. Welcome back, Don!

Kudos to our clean shooters: Beartooth, Slim, Kidd, NNG, and Quilla.

Next match will be on 05 OCT. Hope to see you all then.

Well it was a tad warmer than expected but we still had a whole lot of fun playing cowboy today at the West Point Gun Club.

Congratulations to Cody Maverick, Cotton Connie, Flatboat Bob, Kid At Heart, Major BS Walker, Potter County Kid, Prairie City Slim, Stogie, Will Sonnet, and Windhorse Rider as our Clean All Day Shooters!!!! It would have taken less time to write the non clean shooters 🙂

WPGC Rimfire Steel Match Announcement for 14 SEP

Hello Shooters!!

Hope everyone had a good Labor Day.  We will be conducting our monthly Rimfire Steel Match on WED, 14 SEP.  Looks like we will have good weather.  As usual, we will have plenty of water on ice.

Refer to http://www.westpointgunclub .com/shooting-programs/ rimfire-steel/ for a description of these matches and equipment requirements. In addition, the Open class will be available. In addition to that, the Cowboy Class will allow two Single-Action revolvers to be fired “gunfighter style” (one in each hand).

Gates open at 8:30 a.m.; match starts at 10.

West Point Gun Club Double Action Match Sept 8th

The West Point Gun Club will be having their monthly Double Action match this Thursday, Sept 8th. The gates open at 8:00 AM, setup starts at 8:30 AM, sign up starts at 8:30 AM and shooting starts at 10:00 AM. In addition to our 6 stage Double Action match, we will be having the following:

– 20 round J-Frame (5 shot, short barrel) stage
– 20 round 1911 stage using Wild Bunch Rules (smaller frame carry 1911’s are OK to use)
– We will also be shooting a 29 round stage (24 with normal DA Firearm then 5 rounds with a J-Frame) this will be one of the 6 DA stages

As normal all stages are shot using adult caliber firearms (center fire) and no lasers, red dot or other optics are allowed.
